About Amharicly

Amharicly is an independent website with one job: giving Amharic a modern, structured way to be learned online — the kind of course the big language apps never built for it.

Why Amharic

Amharic is the working language of Ethiopia and one of the most spoken languages in Africa, written in the Ethiopic script — Fidel (ፊደል). Despite tens of millions of speakers and a worldwide diaspora, learners have mostly been left with scattered word lists and decades-old course PDFs. Amharicly exists to close that gap.

What is inside

  • A structured path from complete beginner to advanced — more than 390 interactive lessons across more than 75 units, with exercises, listening and review built in.
  • The complete Fidel: 34 character families and their seven orders, each character with its transliteration, taught step by step rather than dumped as a chart.
  • A teacher-led video course alongside the interactive path.
  • Vocabulary with Ethiopic script, a consistent transliteration scheme and recorded pronunciation throughout.

How it is made

Content is written against a designed curriculum and nothing is published without passing validation and review — the details are on the how we make Amharicly page.
